Transport & Logistics FAQ

Do scrap buyers actually offer pickup, or is drop-off always required?

Short answer: Many buyers do offer pickup, particularly for larger volumes where the trip is worthwhile for them, though this isn't universal — smaller or less established buyers may only accept drop-off, and even buyers who do offer pickup may have minimum quantity thresholds or geographic limits, so it's always worth asking directly rather than assuming either way.

Why pickup availability varies

Offering pickup costs a buyer time and fuel — for a large, valuable load this is easily worthwhile, but for a small quantity it may not be economical for them to offer, which is why pickup terms vary significantly between buyers and situations.

What increases your odds of pickup being offered

Larger quantities, higher-value materials (like copper), and being within a buyer’s normal operating area all make pickup more likely to be offered or worth negotiating for.

Why asking directly matters

Rather than assuming a buyer does or doesn’t offer pickup, asking directly when you first make contact avoids wasted effort arranging transport you might not have needed, or being caught unprepared if pickup wasn’t actually available.
